Will, power and also willpower are in the center of a lot of psychological studies. Willpower may refer to different fields of personal development. In the following a few purviews shall be presented. As well Nietzsche’s concept about the will to power will be mentioned.
Self-Control
A person’s emotions, desires or behavior can be regulated by the so called self-control. This purview is a very important goal in the field of willpower. The psychology calls this action of self-control also self-regulation.
The Will
The will can be described as a personal property. The will make people do and not do things. As well the term is a synonym of free will. This topic is especially in Christianity connected with the discussion about freedom. This is connected with the so called problem of evil. In the center of interest stands the question, if humans and individuals really every time act controlled by their own will.
Conspiracy theorists point to different events and historical facts which shall produce evidence about the existence of the evil and its influence on us. In relation to this, the theory says that evil can be overcome by a solid belief or, as well, by strong willpower.
The Will to Power by Nietzsche
The Will to Power or the so called Wille zur Macht is a well-known concept of the famous philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. He describes the will to power as a main force in human nature. Therefore he splits the driving force into different levels:
